All you wanted to know, but were afraid to ask.

The subtitle of this extremely well researched and referenced book is ‘Investigation of Occult Realities Using the Spirit Molecule’, and that just about sums it up. In this case, ‘occult’ refers to hidden rather than magical, although it’s often difficult to tell the difference. It is fair to say that the author was extremely brave (or foolhardy) indeed and undertook to conduct a very personal and carefully annotated and ongoing experiment regarding the properties and possibilities of that most bizarre chemical dimethyltryptamine, or as its better know DMT. He did not dive in ‘head first’ though, and acclimatised himself by taking other, milder hallucinogens like psilocybin. Long associated with South American shamans who take it in the form of Aayuasca, this chemical appears to open up a very real and separate reality to those who use it and the longer they do so, the more extreme and relevant the visions seem to become. The book is in three sections, with the second of these being a day-by-day, blow by blow, account of what occurred when the author took the chemical, which was inhaled as a vapour with the aid of what was, more-or-less, a ‘bong’. For the reader who is not conversant with the subject it might be better to start at the third section, because this gives a better understanding of what the drug is about. Many of those who promote its use for enlightenment, such as Dr Rick Strassman and the late Terrence McKenna, have testified to what it can reveal and Dick Kahn supplies more of the same. Some incidents describe semi-transparent entities that seem to be around us all the time, but one in particular tells how an entity appeared to take residence inside his head and he could feel it in there. The book presents some very real and insightful challenges regarding consensus reality and for the serious paranormal researcher is the best way to discover what that might be, without actually taking DMT; this is a classic in the making and well worth buying.

Not as good as I wanted it to be.

I was hoping for a revolutionary analysis into the factuality of occult realities while using 'the spirit molecule'... but it's not as revolutionary as I would want. Such a shame.
